Applicants need to fulfil the following requirements in order to be eligible to apply for the course:

1. Physically and medically fit.
2. Free from being accused or convicted of any crime against the law and the state.
3. Between 16 and 22 years of age.
4. Completed Grade 10 or equivalent examinations, with passes in English, Mathematics and Science.
5. At least 162.5cm in height and 55kg in weight for males; or 157.5cm in height and 50kg in weight for females.
   

Students will also be required to do an entrance test before commencing the course. This will include:

1. Written tests in English, Mathematics and Science.
2. Colour Perception Test
3. Neuro-psychiatric and psychological tests
4. Physical, medical, dental and laboratory examinations
